The Black Panther Club wishes to welcome you and your family to one of the best figure skating clubs.
The club was established in 1975 at the old rink before we were blessed with international facility at the Grand West Ice Rink. The club is affiliated to the South African Figure Skating Association- Western Province.
The club is managed by a Committee of between 5 to 10 Members during any given Financial Year and The Committee is assisted by a Head coach, Level 1 coaches and assistant coaches.
The Black Panther Figure Skating Club has traditionally been a Sunday Club but due to COVID19, the rink had to go through a re-organisation in terms of keeping the rink open and allowing clubs back. The re-opening strategy for the clubs was given some thought and it was decided to give the clubs a slot to re-open on a Saturday so that we can operational use the clubs so that it members can return and enjoy the ice time. As part of re-establishing the clubs we will be operating on Saturday from 8:00 to 10:00. During this time we will be accommodating the Synchro Teams from 8:00 to 8:30
10 Grade classes from 8:30 to 10:00, with multiple grades operating every 30 minutes. Our grade classes range from pre- beginner to intermediate level 4.
The timetable is as follows and is subject to change:

Our aim is to promote social skating for all levels in the club, but importantly also to promote competitive skating and be a breeding ground for Western Province Figure Skaters as well as assist the sport of ice hockey by developing skaters that can compete at Provincial and National, anf International level.
During club time the ice is divided into sections to allow the coaches to teach our members the various skating elements. We encourage our skaters to ensure that that they allow themselves the opportunity to build some practice time into their weekly schedule.
Whilst doing their grades at the club, the members are also encouraged to enter the various competitions for the grades at club grade competitions which could result in them competing at the inter-club grades competition.
As a member it is important that members and parent adhere to the clubs rules and regulations which is acknowledged and confirmed when member sign as members.
Our ultimate aim is to steer all our competitive skaters into assigning a professional coach to take them further to compete at Provincial, National and International level. This could be in the discipline of solo skating, Synchronized skating, Ice Dance and even ice hockey.
Our fee structure is as follows:
Monthly membership fees R150 per member. We also accommodate family packages when enquiring from the registration officer. For skaters under the age of 18, a parent/guardian must also join the club as a non-skating member, with an annual fee of R150. We accept skaters from the age of 4 and also offer adult classes.
Rink Entry and Skate hire from the rink on a weekly basis will be as follows:

The club has certain attire which every member is compelled to comply with after one month with the club.
We do offer card/electronic payment facilities should you require to make payment.
As a result of COVID 19 still being enforced we have to continue to adhere to the protocols and someone from the Committee will address parents and skaters in the stands to share the rules of the rink.
ALL SKATERS MUST BE AT THE RINK EARLY AND BE READY 15MINS BEFORE EACH CHANGE OVER FOR THE VARIOUS GRADES.
THE CLUB WILL HAVE REGISTRATION OFFICERS AVAILABLE ON SATURDAYS TO ASSIST ALL NEW MEMBERS WITH REGISTRATION. WE DO HOWEVER ENCOURAGE YOU COMPLETE THE FORMS ON THE WEBSITE.
